National Timeshare Helpline has been investigating Club La Costa Claim Scams and talking to some of those people tricked into thinking they were making a down payment to secure Club La Costa Compensation.
Karen is one of them. She found an advert for Club La Costa claims on Google and sent a message to the company saying she would like to claim compensation."The sales rep on the Zoon call told me I was guaranteed at least double what I had paid and that they would use lawyers in Spain to take care of my case." Karen felt pressured into making an on-the-day decision and paid £6000 on her credit card.

Despite the convincing sales pitch, Karen still felt uneasy. After further investigation, she realised that she had paid an unregulated company that didn't have the necessary authorisation to carry out her claim. Karen told us, "I messaged the seller and told them I didn't want to proceed any further but was told it was too late to cancel. Two years went by with no contact from the company and no sign of compensation. I was still paying finance of £318 every month to Shawbrook Bank with no sign that the company I paid £6000 to had done any work."

Janet (not her real name) fell victim to a Club La Costa Claim Scam in August 2017 when she replied to a cold call from what she thought sounded like a genuine company.
She told the National Timeshare Helpline, "I thought it was quite a reasonable offer as they told me I would be refunded my upfront legal fee, and I was more or less guaranteed over £60,000 in compensation. They showed me reviews and court documents from other clients they had helped. The advisor told us we had to submit our claim in Spain, so we took their advice."

Janet paid a deposit of £4000 and a further £5000 over the following six months. Janet said, " We received occasional emails from the company telling me that our case was in the Spanish Courts, but never received a response when asking for updates". After six years of frustration, Christine contacted the National Timeshare Helpline for help. After a short conversation, Cristine unfortunately learnt that the company she had used hadn't submitted her claim correctly, and she had now run out of time. This meant Christine missed out on a £34,000 compensation payment from Shawbrook Bank and Hitachi Personal Finance.
