The timeshare 'blacklist' is commonly used as a 'bait and switch' marketing method by cold callers. But, in reality, there is no such thing as the 'timeshare blacklist', just the good and the bad!
Timeshare services are unregulated, and no independent body has ever produced a timeshare blacklist. Instead, scam companies often use the fabled 'blacklist' to convince already confused consumers that they have been conned and that the cold caller is the only 'angel' that can help!
Fortunately, due to the amount of work done by companies such as ours, an increasing amount of timeshare consumers are not falling for the usual scams. Banks are also playing their part, with extra security checks on bank transfer payments and very few merchant processors providing credit card facilities.
Our investigations into the timeshare claim companies based in the UK and Tenerife have identified that they are intrinsically linked and are run and operated by the same criminal organisations. At least 75% of the scam companies based in Tenerife are involved in Recovery Room Fraud. This is the process of calling back victims under a different company name and promising they can recover the money from the previous scam. Some of the clients we have helped have fallen for this scam 6-7 times. In simple terms, the same criminals have defrauded the same people 6-7 times whilst pretending to be calling from a different company!
There is a simple method of creating and determining your own 'timeshare blacklist'. If you have been cold-called, put them on the 'blacklist' and stay away! If they have asked for upfront fees, put them on the 'blacklist', and stay away! If they are not SRA or FCA regulated, put them on the 'blacklist', and stay away.
If you need help with claiming back money from a scam, getting out of your timeshare, or making a compensation claim, we can help.
