The massive consumer detriment caused by the timeshare industry has unfortunately not been highlighted enough by mainstream media. Very few programmes were broadcast by BBC Watchdog, and this may have been due to the close relationship between the owner of Club La Costa Roy Pieres and Royal correspondent and Rip Off Britain presenter Jennie Bond.
Jennie Bond was an ambassador of Club La Costa for many years, and her latest video with Roy Peires gave him a platform to cover up and ignore the grievous damage his company and salespeople had inflicted on British Club La Costa members over the last twenty years.
The video below was aired in 2022, sometime after Club La Costa had already lost their defence of illegally selling fractional ownership as an investment, which was later ratified in the high court in May 2023.
In recent years, the media has tended to focus their limited reporting on timeshare exit scams, and for a good reason. For the last fifteen years, timeshare owners have been plagued by cold calls from criminal organisations, mainly based in Tenerife, that use VOIP telephone systems to hide their actual location.
The ever-increasing age demographic of timeshare owners has made them increasingly vulnerable to scare and manipulation tactics these scam companies use.
The proof is in the pudding, and based on the number of claims we submit for victims of timeshare fraud, the evidence speaks for itself. The Financial Conduct Authority and Financial Ombudsman Service have certainly played their part in fuelling the timeshare exit and compensation scam market.
Their inability to act on information, refusal to listen to sense, and severe delay in paying compensation have meant that victims have been left to the wolves.
If you are worried that a timeshare exit scam has affected you or are concerned about the legitimacy of the people offering this service, get in touch. In the vast majority of cases, timeshare owners are already out of their contracts and have no reason to pay for services that are not needed.
If a timeshare contract is still in place and the maintenance fees need to be cancelled, we can do this without you paying any upfront fees. Legally cancelling your timeshare with an FCA-regulated company like ourselves is the safest and most affordable way to proceed.
