Below is an email from a client that contacted us, due to being concerned that a company that contacted him out of the blue was trying to scam him. He was right to be concerned and we managed to prevent him from losing anymore money. The name of the company concerned has been removed due to the threat of violence against our staff.
Client email below:
Hello,
We purchased a timeshare in 2000 but couldn't keep affording the maintenance fees so i eventually 'sold' it to a company, i paid £1k to do so such that it was off my hands. Now i have had a company called xxx call me to say i probably haven't relinquished it? It was some 10 years plus back now & i have little, if any paperwork in relation to this happening. However xxx want £3k for their solicitors to deal with this relinquishment & xxx say they can get the money i paid originally for my timeshare & more if i firstly pay that fee then allow them to pursue the original timeshare company on my behalf telling me they have 97% chance of winning for me (97% is not the same as 100% was my first thought). My second thought was that if xxx are so confident why couldn't their solicitors take their fees form my 'compensation'. is this just another company with a scam? xxx advised that my unrelinquished timeshare ownership & the subsequent debts of maintenance can be passed to my estate? xxx want to know what i want to do by tomorrow & that itself is suspicious? Can you advise please asap?
The above email demonstrates the most common form of timeshare exit and claims scam that we help with on a daily basis. In this particular case, the client no longer owned a timeshare but was led to believe that unless he paid out more money, tens of thousands of pounds in maintenance fees would be included in his estate, which would be inherited by his family.
This scare tactic and the almost 'guaranteed' compensation have seen thousands of timeshare owners lose millions of pounds over the last few years. If you have received a cold call about your timeshare, we can guarantee it is a scam. You are unnecessarily paying out money for services that are either not needed or will end up fruitless.
If you wish to check the legitimacy of the information provided to you by a timeshare exit or timeshare claims company, get in touch. We will run all the necessary checks for free and let you know if you still own your timeshare and if you qualify for compensation.
Our service is free of charge, and if you need to proceed with a timeshare relinquishment or claim, we will do it for you without any upfront fees. This means that you only pay us if we win. If you have already lost money to a timeshare exit company, we can also claim this back without paying any upfront fees.
