If you have been cold called by the Consumer Rights Directive about your timeshare maintenance fees, we can assure you it is a scam. In the run up to Christmas, around the time that timeshare owners receive their maintenance bills, there is always an increase in timeshare scams of this nature.
As with all timeshare exit scams, the initial cold call is designed to get your attention. Fraudsters will tell potential victims that they have a court order filed against them for unpaid maintenance fees. And even go as far as giving them a court reference number!
Potential victims that may have cancelled their timeshare many years hence, are told that the timeshare wasn't cancelled correctly, leading to a court order for unpaid maintenance debts.
The story will continue unfold, and you will be told that the company that has taken over your resort is now seeking to recover historical maintenance fees.
Some victims are told that the caller is representing a government agency based in the UK! Although this call may seem scary with very negative implications, we can guarantee it is a scam.
If you have lost money in this scam or are unsure as to the status of your timeshare ownership, get in touch. Our advice and guidance is free of charge.
