Club la Costa Undergoes Transformation: Rebranding and Operational Changes Reshape the Company
In a recent development, Club la Costa (CLC World), a renowned name in the hospitality and timeshare industry, is experiencing a significant transformation, raising questions about the company's future. Observers have noticed substantial changes, including the disappearance of the old CLC World website, which has been replaced by a members-only booking site named My Club la Costa. Strikingly, the revamped site no longer provides information about resorts or other pertinent details, leaving visitors with a simple login page.

Further investigations have revealed a newly emerged website titled "Wyndham Residences Costa del Sol," which resembles the original CLC World site. This development suggests a closer alignment between CLC and Wyndham, as the operational partnership between the two entities has resulted in the rebranding of former CLC resorts with various Wyndham labels, including Ramada. Significantly, CLC's real estate division, previously known as Club la Costa Estates, has undergone a comprehensive rebranding exercise and now operates under the name IDILIQ. Curiously, IDILIQ was found to be a trading style of RMF Europe Limited, a company established nearly a decade ago. Interestingly, both IDILIQ and CLC share the same address, and several directors associated with CLC are also linked to RMF Europe Limited, including its founder and creator, Roy Peires.

The transformation of CLC extends beyond mere rebranding. IDILIQ has evolved from a real estate brokerage into a multi-faceted entity, incorporating various divisions within its group structure. These include Idiliq Hotels & Resorts, Idiliq Developments, Idiliq Estates, and Idiliq Management, each with its specific role in the company's operations. Idiliq Hotels & Resorts caters to non-owners, allowing them to book holidays directly at former CLC resorts, now under the Wyndham brand. Idiliq Developments focuses on property sales and the development of new resorts, while Idiliq Estates serves as an estate agency, listing both CLC/Wyndham properties and non-affiliated properties. Lastly, Idiliq Management provides resort management services to in-house and external resorts, with subsidiary Alfresco Stays offering management and rental services to individual holiday homeowners.
While these changes have swept through most of CLC's operations, Canaltime, the division responsible for operating canal boats in the UK, has remained untouched. The division's website still bears the corporate identity of CLC, with the contact address listed as Club la Costa in Mijas, southern Spain. However, given its incongruity with the Wyndham business model and the overall IDILIQ structure, industry observers speculate that this division may undergo its transformation in the near future. Review platforms such as Trustpilot showcase both praise and disparaging comments, all of which remain unanswered by CLC. This lack of response raises questions about the company's commitment to addressing customer concerns.
In conclusion, Club la Costa's transformation has resulted in the gradual disappearance of the company's former identity. Wyndham-branded resorts have replaced CLC resorts, while IDILIQ now oversees various aspects of the company's operations. With the exception of the online booking platform My Club la Costa and the Canal Boat division, little remains of the once-dominant Club la Costa or CLC World. The restructuring may have been influenced by legal considerations, including potential penalties related to timeshare contracts, which led to the administration of Club la Costa UK Plc and Club la Costa (UK) Plc Sucursal En España, and the decision made in the high court on the 5th of May 2023, which ruled in favour of Club La Costa Fractional Owners.
