Do you have RCI Timeshare problems?
Years of mis-selling by the timeshare industry have left thousands of UK timeshare owners with worthless timeshares that no longer provide the promised benefits. For many, RCI provided the platform to enable timeshare owners to exchange their timeshare ownership for another holiday destination by paying an exchange fee. This enabled many timeshare owners to visit destinations they would otherwise not be able to afford. Unfortunately, due to a lack of availability, quality of accommodation and over-selling, this method of holidaying became more of a hindrance than a help.
Lack of Availability
As many timeshare owners will testify, the lack of availability at timeshare resorts is a big problem and one of the very reasons they find themselves stuck with a timeshare they can no longer use or want. Due to the mismanagement and regulation of the timeshare industry, thousands of timeshare owners were often mis-sold and over-sold by commission-eager timeshare salespeople that over-promised the benefits and capabilities of their timeshare ownership. As such, members of companies such as Club La Costa, MGM and Diamond Resorts often found themselves unable to get into the resort, time of year or unit they had been sold.
Timeshare sold as an Investment
The selling method of many timeshare companies was to sell timeshare as an 'investment'. This method of selling is illegal. However, due to timeshare being an unregulated industry, this way of selling only increased with the introduction of financing by Barclays Partner Finance.
Timeshare owners were told they could; 'give back their timeshares' and 'resell their timeshares' and that passing it on in a will would be a hereditary asset. As most people have discovered, the burden that their timeshare has become is far from what they were promised. Selling a timeshare on the second-hand market or even giving it away has become impossible for most. Leading to timeshare owners being stuck in long-term contracts with unwanted yearly maintenance bills.
